An Editorial Styled Shoot at Cressy Hall, Lincolnshire
There's something special about a styled shoot. No timeline to stick to, no guests waiting on the next moment, just the freedom to slow down and really lean into the details. That's exactly what we did with Renee and Kitty at Cressy Hall, tucked away in the Lincolnshire countryside, on one of those rare days where the weather genuinely played along.
The Venue: Cressy Hall, Lincolnshire
Cressy Hall
If you haven't been to Cressy Hall before, it's one of those venues that does a lot of the work for you. Set in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside, it has that quiet, romantic stillness that makes it perfect for an editorial wedding shoot, manicured grounds, soft natural light, and enough variety in backdrops to keep things visually interesting from start to finish. Whether you're drawn to grand architectural lines or wild, untouched countryside, Cressy Hall gives you both, which made it the ideal setting for something with a more editorial feel.
Renee and Kitty
Working with Renee and Kitty was honestly one of the easiest shoots I've done. They came with their own sense of style already, confident, a little bold, and completely comfortable with each other in front of the camera, which made my job so much easier. As a wedding and couples photographer, I always say the best images come from real connection rather than forced posing, and that was obvious within the first few minutes of shooting. There was an ease to the way they moved together that you simply can't direct, you can only capture it.
The Editorial Direction
This shoot leaned fully into an editorial aesthetic, think fashion-meets-romance rather than traditional wedding photography. The styling, the poses, and the overall mood were all built around strong, intentional shots rather than candid documentation, which gave us room to play with composition, light, and movement in a way that a real wedding day doesn't always allow for.
This beauty is called Jemima.
Lincolnshire's countryside lent itself beautifully to this. Long grass, open skies, and that golden, late afternoon light gave every frame a soft, cinematic quality. Good weather on the day meant we could really take our time outdoors, chasing the best light across different spots on the grounds without rushing or compromising on a single shot.
Why Styled Shoots Matter
For couples thinking about booking an editorial or styled shoot, whether ahead of your wedding day or simply to mark a chapter in your relationship, it's a brilliant way to get comfortable in front of the camera, experiment with looks you might not get to try on the day itself, and walk away with images that feel a little more elevated and intentional. It's also just genuinely fun. There's no pressure of a wedding day timeline, so we can slow down, try different ideas, and really focus on getting it right.
